Dropping Dimes on the Daily – November 20, 2007

The Daily finds what’s shiny each night, brushes off the dirt to reveal any blemishes and then makes a fair assesment in regards to certain players’ fantasy values.
Look at that man on the right. He looks like a natural. He’s so tall, so athletic and oozes potential the way Gilbert Arenas oozes cockiness. He dropped 24 points in 24 minutes last night and he’s center eligible. Sounds like you should act swiftly, right? Not if you know how Swift acts. Only a sucka would pick him up. And you’re not a sucka.

In the middle of last season, a new sheriff came to town and a new way of life was established in the East Bay. One of his past transgressions caught up to him and for that he had to endure his punishment. After seemingly a lifetime of exile (actual time missed: 7 games), the enigmatic Warrior returned to battle with designs for glory. With Golden State’s season spiraling out of control already, this savior’s return couldn’t have come at a more perfect time.

The Fig Cap: Milk is chillin’... I am chillin’... What more can I say, top billin’.
For those of you that were waiting for the return of Dwyane Wade, to a lesser degree, Ron Artest, and to an even lesser degree, Stephen Jackson, your patience will be rewarded this coming week with a full set of games for the week. But before we get down with what individual players have been doing and could possibly continue to do, it’s time to peep the number of games each NBA team has going on in Week Four of the fantasy basketball season.

Dwyane Wade and Ron Artest are fully back, Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter are out. Yes, the first injury bug has finally hit. Start keeping your eyes peeled to the boxscores people, free agent pickups win leagues. In lieu of these returns, Wade and Artest work their way into our top 15, and Carter gets bumped out. It’s only day-to-day for T-Mac, so we’ll see on that one. Anyways, let’s roll out the schedule…
The Fig Cap: Hey isn’t Jon Barry supposed to be in a suit too?
Note: Yao Ming is NOT injured… yet. Please do not bench him.

Only four teams were off on Wednesday, so there were plenty of numbers flying around box scores and some off-the-heezy lines for a few guys. Two guys made long-awaited returns, one had his second triple-double of the year, and a few others had monster rebounding nights. I’d say it was a good night for some stats.

Not quite fantasy related, but I found a video on YouTube and this image made me laugh quite loud.
The talent over at GMTR has been doing their best with the NBA’s new slogan “Where Amazing Happens,” and some folks have even done there best to make their own videos. Well, this was one of them.
Either way, you gotta love Sam I Am!

There were just three games on the NBA docket last night but there was plenty of action to be found in fantasyland. Even the inaction made headlines as Vince Carter got word on just how bad his ankle injury is and another former All-Star was forced to sit out as well.
Let’s get right to it after this hilarious picture caption.

Wire to Wire aims to be your waiver wire resource for all of your fantasy basketball needs. It will dive into playing time trends, injury replacements, and even an occasional category specialist—all of which can be found on a typical waiver wire within your fantasy league at any given time.
After all of the ‘tweener types that we discussed last week, I did my best to incorporate some point men as well as a handful of big guys. The rotational issue in Toronto is killing a lot of owners, but a certain undrafted rookie may be benefiting. A career resurgence in Minnesota and an injury in New Jersey may be opening up that much more production for some that may have not received time otherwise. All this and more in this week’s edition of Wire to Wire.
